Worldbuilding Wednesday #3

We have reached 200 Million yen and doubled our initial goal with half of the campaign left.
The more backers we can pick up the better so let’s keep getting the message out!
We are at our third Worldbuilding Wednesday: the halfway point of this campaign!
Let’s get through the campaign updates quickly so we can start talking about the awesome music in these games!

Stretch Goals

Thanks to our amazing backers, both games have cleared yet ANOTHER stretch goal for each game!
Keep this momentum up, and who knows what crazy features we’ll unlock by the end of the campaign!

More Whistling(CLEARED!)

We will increase the amount of whistling in the battle music, field music, and story music by an incredible 20 percent. With this, surely even the most weary adventurer will enjoy their journey through the wilderness just that much more.

More Gadgets(120,000,000 yen)/[Approx. $841,000]

The ever-important gadgets characters will increase, giving them an even more diverse set of Actions to choose from.
Not only will this add to the strategy in dungeons and make them more interesting, but it will add more visual style to the game and hopefully increase your affection towards the characters as well.

Player’s Notes(125,000,000 yen)/[Approx. $876,000]

We will implement a mode where you can check the things you’ve encountered during your adventure.
Each record will be different for each player, so it will become a great memorial for your personal adventure.

HINT: Steel Rodeo(????yen)

Until we find out what it is, guess what the upgrade will be.

Merch Reminder

We’d hate to spoil the surprise waiting just a few paragraphs down so we’ll just say this.
Remember that the cool music you see is available on the CDs, Vinyl, and some songs on the music box.
Keep that in mind as you read the next section!

Merch Corrections/Clarifications

The Full House and Collector Tiers do include the vinyl. That was an incorrect listing on our part.

Regarding the Artbooks and Coffee Table Books

  • Normal artbooks are about 60 pages and contain only art.
They are softback and only focus on one title.
  • If you get the Coffee Table Books you get two hard cover books (one for AF, one for PB) at about 150 pages.
Each Coffee Table Book will be numbered and have creator interviews in them as well as parameters for different enemies.
The art in the Coffee Table Books will be different from the Artbooks.

About Signed art-books

  • Signed art-books are only available at the 70,000 yen or more tier.
If you have ordered the upgrade in addition to one of the signed artbook tiers, you can choose which art book you’d like the creators to sign (standard art book or coffee table art book).

Regarding the Complete Soundworks Add-On

The Complete Soundworks Add-on is for physical CDs only.
If you are a digital backer, you will still get all the music, you just won’t get it in a collectors CD case with beautiful CD art!

Content Updates

Mr. Kaneko, the overall game designer who orders all the music from the composer, talked about the concept of the music for “ARMED FANTASIA”.
In addition, we will let you all know about 4 new songs!

Armed Fantasia Music Concepts by Overall Game Designer, Mr. Kaneko

トータルゲームデザイナー金子氏

The genre of the game itself is Westernpunk, meaning we take the rustic, dry Western atmosphere and add some fantasy and sci-fi elements to it.
Since the music makes the game more exciting, we’ve made it have conventional Western music motifs to capture the wonderful nostalgia of the genre, but we’ve also challenged ourselves to add elaborate variations to the music and make it richer.
Or at least that’s what we’ve done in all the games up until now.
Western music that isn’t necessarily Western music.
It’s hard to describe, but I think the concept for the music in this game is working hard to find that special something extra for the soundtrack.

The first four tracks we’ve revealed on Kickstarter are like that, with a little bit of a curve ball so to speak thrown in.
We’ve taken what most of you are probably expecting for an RPG set in the wilderness and done it very straightforwardly.
However, the next four tracks we’ve revealed have even more of a curve ball thrown into the music.
What do you think? Are they good enough to get into the strike zone?

It’s been about 15 years since I’ve been able to work on background music for menus in a game set in the wilderness.
I’ve had so many new things in mind.
It’s a very fun job, and the composers have put in 120% into anything I request of them.
I hope I can share with you the exhilaration I feel and remember from the past.

Oh, and one more thing.

The composers are hard at work composing the soundtrack.
Just between us, if the campaign keeps going like it has been, we might be able to share a little extra music with you guys.
We’ve got two weeks left in the campaign.
So you might be able to expect a few more songs from us before then.
Until next time, I hope the fragments of the game we’ve shared and the eight songs we’ve revealed are enough to give you guys a good idea of the world feel and story of the new game!

New Music Reveals!

“Cosmic Wonder”

Kaneko

Kaneko: When giving directions to the composers for this one, I was imagining the stride our heroes paving a new path for the world would take.
One thing I hope people take away from this is a sense of liveliness of the main characters as they run down the grim road in front of them.

“Anomaly Gang”

Kaneko

Kaneko: The evil that lurks in the wilderness can’t be taken down by ordinary means.
They sneak around, and attack you when you’ve let your guard down.
The feelings of the main characters putting up a fight and the tension of doing so are being expressed in this track.

“Driver’s High”

Kaneko

Kaneko: An automobile is made of a combination of knowledge and car parts.
And it no longer just “runs”.
It swiftly takes our heroes out of harm’s way as they drive across the wilderness.
This song was done with a nimble driving action sequence in mind.

“My Beloved, My Sorrow, So Far Away…”

Kaneko

Kaneko: The story in the game isn’t all intensity, but it has a feeling of loneliness and desolation behind it as well.
I had the composers try to convey the emotions of the main characters as well as the feeling of the unpredictable winds for this track.

So, what do you think? New music for Armed Fantasia!
