Worldbuilding Wednesday #1
CAMPAIGN UPDATES
Thank you again for the support! We’ve cleared our first two goals which means these projects will be coming to consoles! Seeing the large amount of people supporting not just one game but both has been really motivating, as both creators need your support and you keep coming through.
We still have a bunch of great stretch goals waiting including some awesome content and amazing collaborations, so anything you can do from chatting with friends to telling your pets will help. And don’t forget those community goals, with combo goals increasing the quality of merchandise for everyone!
We will also be taking on your advice and moving the stretch goal meter UP towards the top of the page, so if you have any more advice then keep it coming!
CONTENT UPDATES
For our first Worldbuilding Wednesday Kaneko-san talks about Ingram, Alicia, and Euclid and the ARM design.
Greetings, everyone!
Today we’re going to share some information about Armed Fantasia with you all. We’ll be doing these updates three times a week, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled!
First up, we have the introductions for the three main characters. We’ve also posted images of their ARMs as well, so feel free to use them as references for fan-art or cosplays! The setting and design is filled with Mr. Kaneko’s particular style, so we hope you’ll have a better idea of what to expect going forward!
Ingram Goodweather
Birthday: October 9th
Age: 17
Height: 5’6″
Favorite Toy: Magnetic dolls with changeable hands and feet.
- History:
-
Ingram grew up under the care of his grandfather after losing his parents at a young age, but once his grandfather passed away as well he decided to embark on a journey to fulfill a promise to his childhood friend by becoming a Pathfinder. A young adventurer, Ingram isn’t afraid to embrace his newfound freedom.
- Personality:
-
By no means an honor student, Ingram loves fooling around, but has a severe distaste for bad behavior–one he tackles with an air of heroism. Street-smart and with his head screwed on straight, he is capable of making good decisions when the need arises. He often comes off as a brash idiot, but he just has a habit of acting before he thinks.
- Battle:
-
He specializes in the use of gun-type ARMs, using their speed to confuse his enemies and take the advantage to finish the fight. He can do rapid damage to a single target or shoot multiple targets. He has a flashy fighting style that focuses on firing multiple shots rather than a single powerful one.
Comment from Character Designer Tomomi Sasaki:
Ingram’s design hasn’t changed much from his rough draft. I wanted to make sure this character had a cool jacket.
Alicia Fairhead
Birthday: September 22nd
Age: 19
Height: 5’3″
Favorite Sport: Basketball (she plays Center)
- History:
-
The only daughter of the former commander of the Knights of the Order and now a Knight herself, Alicia is a young elite recently promoted to the upper ranks. This new position grants her authority to both act alone and command her own platoon, and so she journeys into the wilderness with the principles of the Order of the Sacred Key close to her heart.
- Personality:
-
Alicia has a cheerful and friendly personality that betrays her upper class origins. She returns the love that she receives from those around her, and is subsequently distressed by the evil and lawlessness that prevails in the wilderness.
- Battle:
-
Her weapon of choice is a spear-class ARM; a mass of iron that is longer than she is tall. Her forward thrust with the spear boasts power beyond compare, but the most notable feature is the defensive device on her left arm capable of making her a literal shield for her allies.
Comment from Character Designer Tomomi Sasaki:
While it might look like she’s wearing a skirt, it’s actually an apron. I probably spent the most time designing the area around her hips.
Euclid Sturges
Birthday: April 11th
Age: 18
Height: 5’8″
Favorite Pastimes: Messing with machinery, long baths, reading, dozing off.
- History:
-
Euclid met Ingram when they were children and they grew to be fast friends. They were separated at one point when his parents moved him out of town but met again as Pathfinders, attempting to fulfill the promise they had made to each other on the day of their parting. His parents run a clinic which he understands he will someday be expected to take over.
- Personality:
-
Euclid carries the air of a cynic and a realist, but in reality is the most romantic member of the party; evidenced by the importance he placed on a childhood promise. He will let his wild childhood friend push him around despite being a supportive person with a world-weary disposition.
- Battle:
-
He specializes in using staff-type ARMs that allow him to use the power of Aether (magic) to summon forth flames and lightning. By taking advantage of an enemy’s weakpoint, he can be a very reliable damage dealer. He also has abilities that allow him to seal away enemy skills, giving the party more advantage in battle.
Comment from Character Designer Tomomi Sasaki:
I didn’t really have any specific instructions for his outward appearance, so I went with glasses and long hair for Euclid. He has his hair in a ponytail, but the original design had him with short hair.
That’s a wrap for our first Worldbuilding Wednesday. What did you think? Let us know in the comments!
